Chapter 10

New Adventure

“HOW MUCH LONGER?” I ASK, tapping my fingers to the table. “They’ve been gone forever.”

“It’s been twenty minutes. There is a lot of ground to cover.” Sterling offers me another bite of the chocolate cake Flynn summoned in an attempt to cheer me up.

I let him feed me the forkful and savor the sweet flavor of one of my favorite desserts. Leaning in, he kisses me, sucking my bottom lip into his mouth. I sigh at the softness of his mouth caressing mine, knowing he just wants to distract me the best he can.

“Is it working?” he thinks, responding to my thought silently.

I shift from my seat and onto his lap, straddling him in the chair. “No,” I say, clutching his face between my palms. “We should all be out there.”

Sliding his arms around my waist, he lifts me up with him, carrying me across the small living room and to the bedroom. “No, we should be here. You’ve been through a lot, and we all agreed that you need to re-charge, catch your breath, enjoy some fun, get a little tender love and care, and also...reward me for my efforts.”

I pull away from him and laugh. “You are not suggesting what I think you’re suggesting.”

Sterling shrugs, offering me a wicked hot grin. “What? I can’t think of a better way to get your mind off things.”

I wiggle in his arms until he sets me on my feet. “I can,” I say, sauntering away from him. I grab the hem of my dirty shirt and tug it over my head. “Flynn mentioned there was a tub here.”

“A bubble bath, huh?” Sterling says, quickening his pace behind me. “What about a massage?”

“Oh, you think this is an offering for you to join me? I think I’d prefer you watch me from over there,” I tease, peering over my shoulder to smile at him. “I had planned to use this time to strategize how I’m going to get you all on your knees and obeying my commands as your leader. I can’t have anyone out of line, not with a war on our hands.”

Sterling hesitates in the doorway, watching me start the water to fill the tub. Drinking me in, he waits without a word. I can tell it’s taking everything in him to do so, but he’s trying to prove to me that he can and will do what I ask of him, even if I’m joking.

I seductively bend over the tub, sticking my hand into the water, playing with the bubbles. “I mean, that bitch witch today did give me a bit of inspiration, and I now have my very own warlock to—”

“All right, blondie. That naughty mouth of yours is going to get you in trouble.” Sterling closes the bathroom door and drops his pants. “Unless you’re about to suggest Mr. Magic Cock tie me to a bed for you to have your way with me or give me double dicks to double peen you without assistance—”

I laugh in exasperation and sweep my hand across the bubbly water.
